ICT Extended Learning Project – Electronic World

Learning Objectives
The aims of this project are for you to learn to:
  1. consider the differences between regular post and electronic mail (e-mail)
  2. consider the impact the Internet is having on your life
  3. consider the impact the Internet has had on someone much older than you
  4. explain the hardware and software requirements needed to be able to access the Internet
Assessment Criteria
Your Extended Learning work will be assessed against the following criteria:

Tasks
You are encouraged to complete all tasks.  Next to each task is an estimated completion time.
We will share our ICT projects during the last week of term, or as you finish them and bring them back to class.
Task 1 – 10 minutes
Answer the following question as fully as you can.
1.     What are the advantages of using e-mail compared to the regular postal system?  Explain fully.
Task 2 – 20 minutes

Make a list of all the things you use the Internet for below.

If the Internet was unavailable how would you perform the following tasks:

·       Find out the kings and queens between 1800 – 1900?


·       Sell your bicycle?


·       Play a computer game against 3 other real friends?


·       Purchase music?


·       Chat to your friend at the weekend when you are both at your own homes?


What would be the implications of not having Internet access for you?
