Science: Fire Tornado

We have been learning about fire tornadoes and how they happen.  Are they ever scary!  


We have read the Forces of Nature article and then researched some famous fire tornadoes.  We found this video of an Australian fire tornado in real time which shows fire tornadoes developing.

 We are creating a chart comparing weather tornadoes to fire tornadoes to help our understanding of both events.

    That is so cool but I am interested . Have they ever occurred in New Zealand ? From Lucy

    Hi Lucy. It's Mrs Dalley here. I have researched lots and can't find any record of a fire tornado happening in Aotearoa.
    Maybe that is a bit of a challenge for our class to take on?
